Excel For Mac Cursor Is To The Left Of Characters

Scrolling through the list of different categories of characters. Delete character to the left of cursor. Windows shortcut. Mac shortcut. The delete key on a Mac deletes to the left. 222 Excel Shortcuts for.
Split from Moved by moderator to Excel for Windows from Excel 2016 Mac forum I installed the 365 on 3 home PC's and found the Excel Formula Bar bug occurs on all them. They are all different brand computers with different software.
It even occurred on a new laptop purchased this week and a clean Windows 10 system. As soon as a graph is moved from the Worksheet into its own Chart, the mouse click no longer works in the formula bar. Sometimes when clicking the far right arrow for the formula bar to expand and show more lines, the cursor will show up transiently, but does not respond to the arrow keys. If one clicks somewhere within the actual formula, and strikes the delete key, a character nearby will disappear (showing the mouse is doing something). In addition, one cannot drag and highlight any part of the formula. Unfortunately, I do most of my Work in Excel using the ability to edit within the formula bar, so this product has been basically useless for me and I will have to install an older version of Office to be able to do my work.
I feel like I wasted $100 because Best Buy where I bought the card said they are not responsible for a refund with this kind of software issue, and there does not appear to be an easy way to contact someone at MS who has the ability to deal with this issue. I spent a number of hours on the phone and also playing the texting game trying to explain the problem to several different people from the install Office support. I kept getting either cut off or hung up on but ultimately they said they had never heard of this problem and blamed in on my computer. Seriously.3 different computer all acting exactly the same way? They gave me another tech support number to call but they would not help me unless I paid the another $149. I am glad I did not now seeing I would have wasted my money since this a real bug. Is there any way to find out if MS is going to fix this problem or do we have to wait until version 2019? And if they do, how will we know?
Print driver for mac generic. Obviously they would not want to not want to make public this kind of major bug. Do new updates download automatically or does one have to seek them out? And if the latter, how often and where does one check for them? I'm having the same issue at Frustrated_User. For me the cursor shows as usual in the formula bar when editing a table. But whenever I click into the formula bar to edit a chart the cursor does not display.
The formula bar cursor is functionally 'there', just not displayed. After the first click to establish the focus in the bar, I can carefully uae he mouse cursor to click into the formula and then hit a delete or backspace and the correct character will disappear, or I can carefully 'highlight' a stretch of characters (again estimating using the mouse cursor with no in-formula bar visual feedback) and hit delete and they will go away, but in both cases there is no display of the blinking formula bar cursor activity in the formula bar. Again this seems to happen only when editing a chart (haven't tried an 'embedded' chart, only one with the chart in its own tab). I've worked Excel for over 30 years and can work around this for now, but It is still terribly annoying, and for folks who don't live in Excel all day it could be hard to manage.

Microsoft still has not fixed the cursor problem for PCs as of Feb 1, 2016. In Excel 2016 (Office 365) the cursor is still not visible in the formula bar when a Chart is moved from a spreadsheet to a separate chart (it is if the graph is left as a small chart in a spreadsheet). I clicked on Updates in Excel and is says I have the latest. It has been well over a month now.
It appears Microsoft is ignoring the issue. I reinstalled 2010 on my laptop so I can work effectively since I work predominantly in charts. Tech support still states they are unaware of the problem which is surprising because it occurs on any PC it is install it on (different brands and different version of Windows including a brand new high end laptop with Windows 10). I want a refund since I am not able to use it for my needs, but it is impossible to speak with anyone in Microsoft, always getting rerouted to the same Office 365 tech support who always want to take over the computer and uninstall and reinstall a few more times, so I have given up because so far they have been useless and in denial there is a problem. I am sorry I paid a year in advance.
